Homework and Grading
Homework is sent home in a homework folder on a daily basis. Student are responsible for writing homework in their planners.
Monday - Thursday Word Work - 5-10 minutes, Math - 5 - 10 minutes
Reading - Parents are encouraged to read with students for 10-20 minutes.Homework won’t be graded, but it will be checked for completion.
Homework is part of the work habits section of the report card.
AssessmentsStudents will have the opportunity to practice standards presented in class. Common assessments will be used to determine mastery of the material. Intervention/enrichment will be provided as needed.

Missed AssignmentsMissed work is completed at home or at school. It is checked for completion, but not graded.
Missed assessments must be made up in class. |
Math1. Students are given a pre-test for each math test provided.
2. All students are taught the grade level curriculum and given enrichment opportunities. Students who pass the pre-test will be given enrichment activities (Wake County enrichment units, Math Stars, Jumpstart Math and Sunshine Math). Students are placed in grade level or enrichment groups based on their pre-test. 3. Extra support and re-teaching will be provided for students who don’t earn a level 3 on the standards. Small groups may be formed based on the pre and post test. 4. Monday – Friday – Teachers will use the Intervention/Enrichment time to support the needs of students in math and reading using a small group structure. Individual student education plans will be made. Teachers will communicate student progress every ten school days using a parent communication log. Parents are expected to email or call the teacher with any questions or concerns. |
